Vocational Education & Training (VET)

Consultation 2008

• Women identified lack of financial security as a major barrier to remaining violence free
• Identified a clear link between financial security & risk of homelessness
• Also showed that a lack of financial security impacts on their sense of self worth

VET Program set up as part of the pre or post crisis holistic service delivery. It works with women who have experienced domestic violence, to establish vocational goals and outcomes via appropriate training & education pathways.

The results so far...

• All women involved with VET have remained living violence free
• 12% are employed
• 38% are participating in a Statement of Attainment
• 16% are enrolled in Certificate IV
• 21% are enrolled in a University degree.
